As the hot and mostly dry weather persists, from 24.05.2024 in most of Latvia high risk of forest fires is expected. High risk of forest fires will remain until the end of May. BE AWARE of high risk of fire in forests and bush areas! Be careful near forests and bushes - do not light bonfires, do not use pyrotechnics. Think about how to extinguish and dispose the cigarette butts and flammable liquids or objects - do not allow them to get in the forest or bushes! The first heat wave of this season has started in Latvia. Starting from the afternoon of 24.05.2024, intensive heat is expected in most of the territory - air temperature will increase up to +27...+29º. Intensive heat will last until the end of May. BE AWARE of intensive heat! Heat causes additional stress on the cardiovascular and respiratory systems. Elderly people, infants, as well as representatives of other age groups suffering from chronic diseases are exposed to the risk of health problems! During intense heat, more than usual, people choose to relax by the water, which increases the potential risk of accidents. An overheated person should not walk quickly into cold water!
