Flood Advisory issued June 4 at 8:30PM EDT until June 4 at 10:15PM EDT by NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...Portions of piedmont North Carolina, including the following counties, Mecklenburg and Union NC and upstate South Carolina, including the following county, York. * WHEN...Until 1015 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. River or stream flows are elevated. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 824 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain has fallen due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. - Stream gauges along Little Sugar Creek and Irwin Creek are above action stage and still rising. Freedom Park walkways may be flooded and the East Boulevard parking lot may begin to flood. Also, Double Oaks and Anita Stroud parks may begin to flood. Flooding impacts will continue, but only light additional rainfall is expected. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Rock Hill, Uptown Charlotte, Monroe, Central Charlotte, South Charlotte, East Charlotte, Southwest Charlotte, Northeast Charlotte, Northwest Charlotte, Matthews, Mint Hill, Indian Trail, Weddington, Fort Mill, Stallings, Unionville, Pineville, Tega Cay, Wesley Chapel and Wingate. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood When it is safe to do so, please report flooding or landslides threatening roads or property to the National Weather Service Greenville-Spartanburg by calling toll free, 1, 800, 2 6 7, 8 1 0 1, by posting on our Facebook page, or via Twitter using hashtag NWSGSP. Your message should describe the specific location where impacts occurred and the depth of flooding observed. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
