Small Craft Advisory issued July 22 at 9:37AM EDT until July 22 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Tallahassee FL * WHAT...South winds 20 kt with gusts up to 30 kt * WHERE...St. Andrews Bay Waterways. * WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT this evening. * IMPACTS...A Small Craft Advisory means that wind speeds of 20 to 33 knots, or seas of 7 feet or greater, are expected to produce hazardous conditions for small craft. These hazardous conditions may result in poor vessel handling and steering response, broaching, overturned dinghies and kayaks, slips and falls on slippery decks, rub damage along docks and seawalls, and dragging anchors. Inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller vessels, should avoid navigating in hazardous conditions.

Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

High Surf Advisory issued July 22 at 1:36PM EDT until July 23 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Tallahassee FL * WHAT...For the High Surf Advisory, large breaking waves of 4 to 8 feet in the surf zone. For the High Rip Current Risk, dangerous rip currents. * WHERE...South Walton, Coastal Bay and Coastal Gulf Counties. * WHEN...For the Coastal Flood Advisory, until 2 PM EDT /1 PM CDT/ this afternoon. For the High Surf Advisory, until 8 PM EDT /7 PM CDT/ Thursday. For the High Rip Current Risk, through late Friday night. * IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. * ADDITIONAL INFORMATION...With water levels receding along the coast and bays, the Coastal Flood Advisory will be allowed to expire at 1 PM CDT/2 PM EDT. Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions. Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
