Flash Flood Warning issued July 10 at 11:43PM CDT until July 11 at 5:15AM CDT by NWS Paducah KY At 1143 PM CDT, local law enforcement reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain and flash flooding in Livingston County Kentucky. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen over the warned area. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Law enforcement reported. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Metropolis, Marion, Vienna, Rosiclare, Goreville, Brookport, Salem, Dongola, Golconda, Dixon Springs, Joy, Burna, New Columbia, Ledbetter, Lake Of Egypt Area, Joppa, Cave-in-Rock, Smithland and Elizabethtown. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or creeks.

Flood Watch issued July 10 at 7:19AM CDT until July 12 at 1:00AM CDT by NWS Paducah KY * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southeast Missouri, western Kentucky, and southwest Indiana. * WHEN...Through late Saturday night. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are possible. Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - The first round, or rounds, of heavy rain occurred overnight with southeast MO, southwest IL, and far western KY receiving most of it. Radar estimates show a broad swath of 1 to 3 inches with embedded pockets where storms repeated producing 2 to 3 times that amount in some localities. This super saturated ground will be prime breeding grounds for excessive runoff from additional heavy rains expected later today into tonight, and heading into the weekend. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

Eastern Union County in southern Illinois... * WHEN...Until 115 AM CDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1010 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
