Water levels are now falling, and the river is forecast to fall below flood stage Thursday afternoon. For the Wabash River...including New Harmony...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Wabash River at New Harmony. * WHEN...Until Thursday afternoon. * IMPACTS...At 15.0 feet, The river overflows low ground on the Illinois side. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 7:30 PM CDT Tuesday the stage was 16.2 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 7:30 PM CDT Tuesday was 16.6 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage late Thursday morning and continue falling to 5.2 feet Friday, July 10. - Flood stage is 15.0 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
