Flood Watch issued June 22 at 9:30PM EDT until June 23 at 6:00AM EDT by NWS Jackson KY * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of northeast, south central, and southeast Kentucky, including the following counties, in northeast Kentucky, Martin. In south central Kentucky, Laurel and Whitley. In southeast Kentucky, Bell, Clay, Floyd, Harlan, Knott, Knox, Leslie, Letcher, Perry and Pike. * WHEN...Until 6 AM EDT Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Excessive rains of the past week have left a good portion of the area primed for high water issues in locations that experience training thunderstorms through late tonight. Rounds of showers and thunderstorms, some with torrential downpours, are expected to affect the area through much of the night, leading to a potential for flash flooding considering the soaked grounds in certain parts of eastern Kentucky. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

Flood Advisory issued June 22 at 9:10PM EDT until June 23 at 12:15AM EDT by NWS Jackson KY * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Portions of northeast and southeast Kentucky, including the following counties, in northeast Kentucky, Johnson and Martin. In southeast Kentucky, Floyd and Pike. * WHEN...Until 1215 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 908 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Up to 1 inch of rain has fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain may result in flash flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Prestonsburg, Allen, Endicott, Dicks Creek, Pleasant, Corn Fork Hollow, McCombs, Odds, Alvin, Emma, Lancer, Nero, Dwale, Auxier, Moree, Bays Branch, Beaver Junction, Prince, Van Lear and Cliff. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
