Somerset County in southeastern Maryland... Wicomico County in southeastern Maryland... Worcester County in southeastern Maryland... * Until 430 AM EDT. * At 306 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Ocean City, Fruitland, Pocomoke City, Princess Anne, University Of Maryland Eastern Shore, Berlin, Snow Hill, West Pocomoke, Westover, Newark, Ocean Pines, Cape Isle Of Wight, Deal Island, Willards, Longridge, Whitesburg, Salisbury-Wicomico, Cokesbury, Lakewood and Whiton. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Flood Watch issued July 22 at 2:37AM EDT until July 22 at 6:00PM EDT by NWS Wakefield VA * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...A portion of southeast Maryland, including the following areas, Inland Worcester, Maryland Beaches, Somerset and Wicomico. * WHEN...Through this afternoon. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue through this afternoon ahead of a slow moving cold front.
