Flood Advisory issued July 11 at 8:59AM EDT until July 11 at 12:00PM EDT by NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Southwestern Madison County in western North Carolina... * WHEN...Until noon EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Some low-water crossings may become impassable. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 859 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area through 11 AM. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. Smaller tributaries of the French Broad are likely to rise quickly and may flood a few low water crossings. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Marshall, Hot Springs, Spring Creek, Walnut, Luck, Canto and Max Patch. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
