Excessive Heat Warning issued June 9 at 8:24AM AST until June 9 at 6:00PM AST by NWS San Juan PR * WHAT...For the Excessive Heat Warning, this level of heat affects anyone without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration. Impacts likely in some health systems, heat-sensitive industries and infrastructure. For the Excessive Heat Watch, dangerously hot conditions may return on Monday. * WHERE...Mayaguez and Vicinity, North Central, Northwest, Ponce and Vicinity, San Juan and Vicinity, Southeast, and Southwest. * WHEN...For the Excessive Heat Warning, until 6 PM AST this evening. For the Excessive Heat Watch, from Monday morning through Monday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
