Heat Advisory issued July 11 at 2:32AM EDT until July 11 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Wilmington NC * WHAT...Heat index values up to 108 expected. * WHERE...Portions of southeast North Carolina and northeast South Carolina. * WHEN...From 11 AM this morning to 8 PM EDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion or heat stroke. Allow outside pets and livestock plenty of fresh drinking water and a well ventilated and shaded location.

Special Weather Statement issued July 11 at 2:33PM EDT by NWS Wilmington NC At 232 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Marion to near New Hope. Movement was southeast at 20 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Marion, Lake City, Pamplico, Galivants Ferry, Hyman, Effingham, Hannah, Rains, Gresham, Friendfield, New Hope, Evergreen, Scranton, Coward, and Aynor. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 900 PM EDT for northeastern South Carolina.
