Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued May 27 at 8:08PM CDT until May 28 at 12:00AM CDT by NWS Brownsville TX THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 338 IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT CDT TONIGHT FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN TEXAS THIS WATCH INCLUDES 5 COUNTIES IN DEEP SOUTH TEXAS BROOKS HIDALGO JIM HOGG STARR ZAPATA THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF EDINBURG, FALFURRIAS, HEBBRONVILLE, MCALLEN, MISSION, PHARR, RIO GRANDE CITY, ROMA, WESLACO, AND ZAPATA.

Special Weather Statement issued May 27 at 8:09PM CDT by NWS Brownsville TX At 809 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 11 miles southwest of La Grulla to 30 miles south of Los Ebanos. Movement was east at 35 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Mission, Hidalgo, Palmview, Penitas, Sullivan City, La Joya, Palmhurst, Los Ebanos, Sharyland, and South McAllen. This includes US Highway 83 between mile markers 834 and 850. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service. To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement agency. They will relay your report to the National Weather Service office in Brownsville. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until midnight CDT for Deep South Texas.
