South central Liberty County in southeastern Texas... * Until 630 PM CDT. * At 553 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Hardin, or 8 miles north of Liberty, moving south at 40 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. * Locations impacted include... Liberty, Dayton, Ames, Hardin, Kenefick, and Dayton Lakes. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning are occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.

Extreme Heat Warning issued July 22 at 2:15PM CDT until July 22 at 8:00PM CDT by NWS Houston/Galveston TX * WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 116. * WHERE...Portions of south central and southeast Texas. * WHEN...Until 8 PM CDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity will increase the risk for heat related illnesses to occur, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1. Stay cool, stay hydrated, stay informed.
