Flood Watch issued June 22 at 10:52AM EDT until June 22 at 11:00PM EDT by NWS Blacksburg VA * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of southwest Virginia, including the following area, Tazewell and southeast West Virginia, including the following areas, Eastern Greenbrier, Mercer, Monroe, Summers and Western Greenbrier. * WHEN...Through this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - An upper level disturbance will interact with ample moisture and a front to bring scattered showers and thunderstorms to the region. Special Weather Statement issued June 22 at 5:00PM EDT by NWS Blacksburg VA At 500 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Amonate, or 9 miles north of Cedar Bluff, moving east at 30 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Bluefield... Pocahontas... Bramwell... Jewell Ridge... Amonate... Gratton... and Tiptop. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 900 PM EDT for southeastern West Virginia.
