Northeastern Barbour County in northeastern West Virginia... Southeastern Taylor County in northern West Virginia... * Until 815 PM EDT. * At 538 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring on Cherokee Road and Wolf Run Road. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Grafton, Philippi, Flemington, Moatsville, Nestorville, Tygart Lake State Park, Knottsville and Galloway. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Report flooding to the National Weather Service by calling toll free, 800 401 9535, when you can do so safely.

Air Quality Alert issued July 18 at 7:05AM EDT by NWS Charleston WV West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection - Air Quality Division has issued a Code Orange Air Quality Action Day for Fine Particulates for West Virgina until midnight EDT tonight. Elevated fine particulate matter levels are anticipated to drop as the day goes on today. A code Orange air quality alert means members of sensitive groups may experience health effects. The general public is less likely to be affected, but sensitive groups should take additional precautions. These groups include children, the elderly, and people suffering from asthma, heart disease, or other lung diseases. The effects of air pollution can be minimized by avoiding outdoor exercise or strenuous activity. Check the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency`s www.AirNow.gov website for current air monitor readings.
