James River near Mitchell affecting Hanson and Davison Counties. East Fork Vermillion River near Montrose affecting McCook County. West Fork Vermillion River Near Parker affecting Turner County. East Fork Vermillion River near Parker affecting Turner County. Big Sioux River above Hawarden affecting Union, Sioux and Lincoln Counties. Big Sioux River near Canton affecting Lincoln, Sioux and Lyon Counties. Big Sioux River at Akron affecting Plymouth and Union Counties. Rock River at Rock Valley affecting Sioux and Lyon Counties. Little Sioux River at Cherokee affecting Cherokee County. * WHAT...Major flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Big Sioux River at Akron. * WHEN...From this morning until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 22.0 feet, Highway 48 begins to flood where the railroad tracks cross, and Iowa Highway 3 begins to flood on the east side of the river. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1:00 AM CDT Friday the stage was 15.5 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage this morning and continue rising to a crest of 22.0 feet early Monday morning. This river forecast will be heavily impacted by how much rain ultimately falls. - Flood stage is 16.0 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Flood Watch issued June 21 at 2:40AM CDT until June 22 at 7:00AM CDT by NWS Sioux Falls SD * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...A portion of northwest Iowa, including the following counties, Buena Vista, Cherokee and Plymouth. * WHEN...Through Saturday morning. * IMPACTS...Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are possible. Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Widespread heavy rainfall continues.
