At 1050 AM CDT, Emergency Management reported flash flooding near Ainsworth as well as in Muscatine this morning. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen so far and additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are possible in the warned area in additional thunderstorms. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Emergency Management. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Muscatine, Washington, Aledo, Tipton, West Branch, Wapello, Sigourney, Columbus Junction, Durant, Mechanicsville, Stanwood, Marion, Hiawatha, West Liberty, Robins, Williamsburg, Wilton and Center Point. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall, with some seeing repeating rounds of storms though the day.
