Little Sioux River at Cherokee affecting Cherokee County. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Big Sioux River above Hawarden. * WHEN...From early this morning until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 29.5 feet, County Road 13 begins to flood west of Hawarden. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 12:30 AM CDT Friday the stage was 21.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 12:30 AM CDT Friday was 21.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 29.3 feet early Sunday afternoon. This river forecast will be heavily impacted by how much rain ultimately falls. - Flood stage is 20.5 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks.
