Wapsipinicon River at Independence affecting Linn and Buchanan Counties. * WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Wapsipinicon River near De Witt 4S. * WHEN...Until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 13.0 feet, Water affects many residences along the river. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 7:30 AM CDT Tuesday the stage was 12.5 feet and rising. - Forecast...The river will rise to 13.3 feet early Monday morning, then begin falling. - Flood stage is 11.0 feet. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Movement was southeast at 25 mph. HAZARD...Winds in excess of 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could cause minor tree limb damage and blow around unsecured objects. The gust front will be near... Port Byron, Princeton, Long Grove, Wheatland, Cordova, Grand Mound, Calamus, and McCausland around 510 PM CDT. Le Claire and Hooppole around 515 PM CDT. Eldridge, Rapids City, and Donahue around 520 PM CDT. Bettendorf around 525 PM CDT. Hampton around 530 PM CDT. Other locations impacted by these storms include Silvis Heights, Portland Corners, Campbells Island, Bennett Park, Sunbury, New Liberty, Panorama Park, Davenport Municipal Airport, Denrock, and Shady Beach. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
