Flash Flood Warning issued June 17 at 4:32PM CDT until June 17 at 7:00PM CDT by NWS Chicago IL At 432 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated that the heavy rain had moved out of the warned area. Up to 2 inches of rain have fallen. Standing water likely remained on numerous roadways and multiple creeks are showing rapid rises. HAZARD...Flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT...Rapid-onset flooding of creeks, streams, drainage ditches, streets, underpasses, low-lying areas, and other poor drainage areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Hammond, Gary, Tinley Park, Calumet City, Portage, Merrillville, Chicago Heights, East Chicago, Schererville, Hobart, Lansing, Oak Forest, Harvey, Highland, Munster, Dolton, Park Forest, Homewood, Matteson and Frankfort. A Flash Flood Warning means rapid-onset flooding is imminent or may already be occurring. Persons along creeks, drainage ditches, and other waterways should take immediate precautions to protect life and property.
