HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and nickel size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings. * Severe thunderstorms will be near... South Lyon, Linden, and Gaines around 615 PM EDT. Novi, Fenton, Milford, and Lake Fenton around 620 PM EDT. Holly around 625 PM EDT. West Bloomfield around 630 PM EDT. Southfield, Pontiac, Grand Blanc, and Clarkston around 635 PM EDT. Troy, Royal Oak, Birmingham, Goodrich, and Ortonville around 640 PM EDT. Warren, Oxford, Sterling Heights, and Rochester around 650 PM EDT. Other locations impacted by these severe thunderstorms include Franklin, Keego Harbor, Waterford, Orchard Lake, Rankin, Holly State Recreation Area, Commerce, Rose Center, Lathrup Village, and Auburn Hills. People attending Royal Oak Taco Fest, Pine Knob, and Clawson 4th of July Celebration should seek safe shelter immediately! For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

Extreme Heat Warning issued July 3 at 4:10AM EDT until July 3 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Detroit/Pontiac MI * WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 105. * WHERE...A portion of southeast Michigan. * WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates. Check with local emergency management officials for information on cooling center availability.
