Flood Warning issued June 4 at 8:40PM CDT until June 7 at 4:13AM CDT by NWS Kansas City/Pleasant Hill MO ...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in Missouri... Tarkio River at Fairfax affecting Atchison and Holt Counties. * WHAT...Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Tarkio River at Fairfax. * WHEN...From late tonight to late Saturday night. * IMPACTS...At 17.0 feet, Low-lying farm fields begin to flood. At 18.0 feet, U.S. Highway 59 north of Fairfax begins to flood. At 19.0 feet, Flooding begins in the vicinity of Corning. At 25.0 feet, Levees in the vicinity of Fairfax are overtopped. Flooding of farmland along with homesteads and roads occurs. At 25.6 feet, Flood waters will reach the intersection of State Highway J and U.S. Highway 59 on the west side of Fairfax. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:15 PM CDT Thursday the stage was 8.8 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late tonight to a crest of 23.8 feet early tomorrow afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage early Saturday morning. - Flood stage is 17.0 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads.
