Flood Warning issued June 23 at 9:07AM CDT until June 24 at 7:00AM CDT by NWS Omaha/Valley NE ...The National Weather Service in Omaha/Valley NE has issued a Flood Warning for the following rivers in Nebraska... Platte River Near Louisville affecting Sarpy and Cass Counties. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Platte River near Louisville. * WHEN...From this afternoon to tomorrow morning. * IMPACTS...At 9.0 feet, The bike path at Highway 50 along the river begins to flood. Also, lowland flooding starts along both of the banks. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:15 AM CDT Sunday the stage was 7.1 feet...or 1.9 feet below flood stage. - Bankfull stage is 9.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late this afternoon to a crest of 9.1 feet this evening. It will then fall below flood stage this evening. - Flood stage is 9.0 feet. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Heat Advisory issued June 23 at 10:32AM CDT until June 25 at 7:00AM CDT by NWS Omaha/Valley NE * WHAT...Heat index values ranging from 100 to 110 are expected. * WHERE...Portions of southwest and west central Iowa and east central, northeast, and southeast Nebraska. * WHEN...From 1 PM Monday to 7 AM CDT Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and even heat stroke. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.
