Flood Advisory issued July 3 at 8:40PM CDT until July 3 at 11:45PM CDT by NWS Omaha/Valley NE * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...South Central Douglas County in east central Nebraska... Northwestern Sarpy County in east central Nebraska... * WHEN...Until 1145 PM CDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 839 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Southwestern Omaha, Ralston, Gretna, Boys Town, Millard, La Vista, Zorinsky Lake, Wehrspann Lake, Chalco and Prairie Queen Recreation Area. - weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
