Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued July 28 at 2:36PM EDT until July 28 at 3:00PM EDT by NWS Mount Holly NJ At 236 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Allamuchy-Panther Valley, or 11 miles southwest of Newton, moving north at 35 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Damage to roofs, siding, trees, and power lines is possible. Locations impacted include... Newton, Hopatcong, Hackettstown, Wharton, Washington, Mount Arlington, High Bridge, Stanhope, Netcong, Clinton, Oxford, Hope, Glen Gardner, Chester, Hampton, Lebanon, Califon, Andover, Brass Castle, and Lake Mohawk. This includes the following highways... Interstate 78 in New Jersey between mile markers 8 and 25. Interstate 80 in New Jersey between mile markers 12 and 32. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

Flood Watch issued July 28 at 12:38PM EDT until July 29 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Mount Holly NJ * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of New Jersey, including the following counties, Hunterdon, Middlesex, Morris, Somerset, Sussex and Warren and Pennsylvania, including the following counties, Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe and Northampton. * WHEN...Through Wednesday evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Widespread showers and thunderstorms will move through this afternoon into tonight. Rainfall rates of 1 to 3 inches per hour are possible. Another round of heavy rain is anticipated on Wednesday afternoon and evening. This could further result in flash flooding and/or flooding of creeks and streams.
