For the Extreme Heat Watch, dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 105 possible. * WHERE...Broome, Chemung, Chenango, Cortland, Madison, Onondaga, Schuyler, Seneca, Southern Cayuga, Southern Oneida, Steuben, Tioga, Tompkins, and Yates Counties. * WHEN...For the Heat Advisory, from noon to 8 PM EDT Tuesday. For the Extreme Heat Watch, from Wednesday morning through Friday evening. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The hottest temperatures will be in urban valley locations during the mid to late afternoon period. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
