Flood Advisory issued June 22 at 5:09PM EDT until June 22 at 7:15PM EDT by NWS Upton NY * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of southeast New York, including the following counties, Nassau, Queens and Suffolk. * WHEN...Until 715 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 509 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Up to 0.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Huntington Station, Glen Cove, Plainview, Garden City, Syosset, Mineola, Huntington, Westbury, Great Neck, Northport, Oyster Bay, Bayside, Hicksville, Elmont, Dix Hills, Melville, Port Washington, Woodbury, Manhasset and Bayville. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads.
