Air Quality Alert issued July 16 at 4:24PM EDT by NWS Cleveland OH The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has issued a Code PURPLE Air Quality Alert for Erie and Crawford Counties. The advisory is until midnight EDT Friday night. Wildfire smoke from northern Minnesota and south central Canada will continue to result in unhealthy air quality through Friday. All Pennsylvania residents should limit time outdoors, especially vulnerable populations, including small children, the elderly, and those with respiratory ailments. Air Quality Alert issued July 16 at 4:30PM EDT by NWS Cleveland OH The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has issued a code ORANGE air quality alert for Friday, including Erie county. A code ORANGE air quality alert means that air pollution concentrations within the region may become unhealthy for sensitive groups. Sensitive groups include children, the elderly, and people suffering from asthma, heart disease, or other lung diseases. The effects of air pollution can be minimized by avoiding outdoor exercise or strenuous activity.
