Bennington County in southern Vermont... Windham County in southern Vermont... * Until 1145 PM EDT. * At 1044 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Dorset to Arlington to 7 miles east of Bennington to near Wilmington to Readsboro, moving east at 35 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. * Locations impacted include... Bennington, Brattleboro, Arlington, Londonderry, Townshend, Manchester, Stratton, Shaftsbury, Putney, Vernon, Dorset, Wilmington, Readsboro, Saxtons River, Westminster, Newfane, Guilford Center, Manchester Center, West Wardsboro, and Hinsdale. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning are occurring with these storms. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

In New York, Northern Warren, Western Greene, Hamilton, Northern Fulton, and Northern Herkimer Counties. In Vermont, Western Windham County. * WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...There will be little to no relief at night, with low temperatures in the upper 60s to lower 70s along with humid conditions persisting across much of the area Wednesday night and Thursday night. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.
