Flash Flood Warning issued June 19 at 12:34AM CDT until June 19 at 5:30AM CDT by NWS Duluth MN At 1234 AM CDT Wednesday, emergency management reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. Emergency management reported significant flooding in the city of Bayfield, Town of Russell, and Red Cliff Reservation. Highway 13 is also being impacted by flooding at Ski Hill Road in Bayfield and Blueberry Road in Red Cliff. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Emergency management reported. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Ashland, Washburn, Iron River, Barksdale, Brule, Oulu, Bayfield, Port Wing, La Pointe, Cornucopia, Apostle Island Sea Caves, Herbster, Sand Bay, Sand Island, Red Cliff, York Island, Madeline Island, Oak Island, Big Bay State Park and Odanah. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
