Air Quality Alert issued July 20 at 12:18PM CDT by NWS Green Bay WI The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has issued an Air Quality Advisory for the following counties: Brown, Calumet, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, Marinette, Menominee, Oconto, Outagamie, Shawano, Waupaca, Waushara, Winnebago. WHAT...The PM2.5 AQI is expected to reach the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups level. WHERE...East central and northeast Wisconsin. WHEN...Until 6 p.m. Precautionary/Preparedness Actions: Sensitive groups: Make outdoor activities shorter and less intense. It is OK to be active outdoors but take more breaks. Watch for symptoms such as coughing or shortness of breath. People with asthma: Follow your asthma action plan and keep quick relief medicine handy. People with heart disease: Symptoms such as palpitations, shortness of breath, or unusual fatigue may indicate a serious problem. If you have any of these, contact your health care provider. Additional Details: Smoke is clearing from NW to SE but it will take longer to clear across the eastern half of the state. Beach Hazards Statement issued July 20 at 10:14AM CDT until July 21 at 7:00AM CDT by NWS Green Bay WI * WHAT...High waves and dangerous currents expected. * WHERE...Beaches along Lake Michigan in Door, Kewaunee and Manitowoc Counties. * WHEN...From 10 AM CDT this morning through Tuesday morning. * IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming conditions are expected. Strong currents can pull swimmers into deeper water and high waves can sweep people off piers. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Several beaches that will be most susceptible to the dangerous swimming conditions include... Rock Island State Beach, Baileys Harbor beaches and Whitefish Dunes Beach in Door County. Cresent Beach and City of Kewaunee Beach in Kewaunee County. Point Beach, Neshotah Beach and Red Arrow Beach in Manitowoc County. Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions.
