Air Quality Alert issued July 4 at 10:44AM PDT by NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA * WHAT...The South Coast AQMD has issued an air quality alert due to harmful levels of fine particle pollution. Visit https://www.aqmd.gov/alertinfo to check current and forecasted air quality levels. * WHERE...Most of Los Angeles County. Levels of particle pollution can vary by time and location depending on emissions and local weather conditions. * WHEN...High particle pollution due to fireworks expected from dusk Saturday until 3 PM Sunday. * IMPACTS...Particle pollution can get deep into the lungs and cause serious health problems such as heart attacks, bronchitis, asthma attacks, and difficulty breathing. Everyone can be affected, but sensitive groups such as people with lung or heart disease, older adults, people who are pregnant, children, and those who spend a lot of time outdoors are at greater risk. To protect your health, check air quality levels and act as needed: * When Air Quality Index (AQI) levels are "Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups" (orange), sensitive groups as specified above should limit extended or intense outdoor activity. * When AQI is "Unhealthy" (red), everyone may experience health impacts. Sensitive groups should avoid extended time outdoors. * When AQI is "Very Unhealthy" (purple), sensitive groups should avoid all outdoor physical activity. Everyone else should avoid extended or intense outdoor activity. * When AQI is "Hazardous" (maroon), everyone should avoid all outdoor physical activity. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... To help keep indoor air clean when air quality is poor: * Keep windows and doors closed * Run your air conditioner and/or an air purifier * Do not use whole house fans or swamp coolers that bring in outside air if you have other methods to stay cool * Avoid other sources of pollution such as fireplaces, candles, incense, grilling, and gasoline-powered lawn and garden equipment

Heat Advisory issued July 5 at 9:40AM PDT until July 9 at 8:00PM PDT by NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA * WHAT...Temperatures from 90 to around 100 expected...except up to 103 across the warmest mountains and interior valleys of San Luis Obispo county. * WHERE...Interior mountains of Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo counties as well as the San Fernando, San Gabriel, Santa Clarita, Cuyama and San Luis Obispo interior valleys. * WHEN...From 10 AM Tuesday to 8 PM PDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...There is a high risk for heat illness for sensitive populations including the very young, the very old, those without air conditioning, and those active outdoors. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The warmest temperatures with this event are expected to occur Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, with additional locations potentially being needed to be added to this advisory with time. Temperatures are expected to cool slightly after Thursday in some locations, but will remainabove normal into the following week. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
