Fire Weather Watch issued May 22 at 2:39AM CDT until May 23 at 9:00PM CDT by NWS Midland/Odessa TX ...A FIRE WEATHER WATCH IS IN EFFECT THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FOR THE HIGHER TERRAIN AND ADJACENT PLAINS OF WEST TEXAS AND SOUTHEAST NEW MEXICO FOR RELATIVE HUMIDITY VALUES AS LOW AS 2 PERCENT, 20 FT WINDS GREATER THAN 20 MPH AND EXTREME FIRE DANGER... * TIMING...Thursday afternoon and evening. * WINDS...West 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 2 percent. * RFTI...5 to 6 or critical. * IMPACTS...Avoid the use of open flames or any activities that may generate sparks. Accidental ignitions will have the potential to grow into dangerous wind-driven wildfires. A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur.
