Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. If you do not have air conditioning in your home or lack shelter, you can call 211 for assistance locating appropriate shelter from the heat.

Special Weather Statement issued July 9 at 5:09PM MDT by NWS Albuquerque NM At 509 PM MDT, surface observations indicated a line of strong thunderstorms extending from over Meadow Lake to 9 miles northwest of Bernardo, moving southeast at 25 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Surface observations. Belen Regional Airport reported a 49 mph gust at 455 PM MDT. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Los Lunas, Belen, Valencia, Bosque Farms, Rio Communities, Casa Colorada, Jarales, Los Trujillos-Gabaldon, Veguita and Rio Communities North. This includes the following highways... Highway 60 between Mile Markers 166 and 178...and near Mile Marker 180. Interstate 25 between Mile Markers 172 and 202. Monitor the weather situation closely and be alert for threatening weather conditions. Blowing dust associated with strong thunderstorm winds can reduce visibility below one quarter mile at times.
