High Wind Warning issued April 27 at 12:54AM MDT until April 28 at 12:00AM MDT by NWS Midland/Odessa TX * WHAT...West winds 30 to 50 mph with gusts up to 70 mph expected. * WHERE...Guadalupe Mountains of west Texas and Southeast New Mexico. * WHEN...From 6 AM MDT /7 AM CDT/ this morning to midnight MDT /1 AM CDT/ tonight. * IMPACTS...Gusty winds may blow around unsecured objects. Severe turbulence near the mountains will be hazardous for low flying light aircraft. Winds will be particularly hazardous at higher elevations where the strongest winds are likely to occur. Be especially careful driving in these mountainous areas. People driving high-profile vehicles should strongly consider postponing travel in these areas until the winds subside.

Red Flag Warning issued April 27 at 2:38AM CDT until April 27 at 9:00PM CDT by NWS Midland/Odessa TX * AFFECTED AREA...Southeast New Mexico, the western high terrain, and into the Big Bend. * TIMING...Saturday afternoon and evening. * WINDS...Southwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 5-10 percent. * RFTI...6 or critical. * IMPACTS...Avoid the use of open flames or any activities that may generate sparks, such as outdoor burning or welding. Extinguish cigarettes in vehicles. Accidental ignitions will have the potential to grow into dangerous wind-driven wildfires. A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures will increase potential for fire growth.
