Central Pima County in southeastern Arizona... * Until 830 PM MST. * At 658 PM MST, several bands of blowing dust out along an organized thunderstorm outflow from eastern Pima county will rapidly spread west across central Pima county including the Tohono O'odham Nation. HAZARD...Less than a quarter mile visibility. SOURCE...Detected by National Weather Service meteorologists. IMPACT...Dangerous life-threatening travel. * Locations impacted include... Sells, Santa Rosa, Topawa, San Miguel, San Isidro, Kitt Peak, Ali Chukson, Covered Wells, Anegam, Gu Oidak, Vamori, South Komelik, Palo Verde Stand, Cowlic, Fresnal, San Pedro, Choulic, Newfield and Ak Chin. This includes the following highways... Route 86 between mile markers 84 and 149. Route 286 between mile markers 1 and 42. Motorists should not drive into a dust storm. PULL ASIDE STAY ALIVE!

Blowing Dust Advisory issued July 11 at 12:21AM MST until July 11 at 11:00PM MST by NWS Tucson AZ * WHAT...Visibility between one-quarter and one mile in blowing dust from thunderstorms late this afternoon and evening. Wind gusts in excess of 50 mph possible. Localized dense blowing dust may bring visibility below one-quarter mile at times, especially in dust prone areas such as along Interstate 10 between Tucson and Phoenix. * WHERE...South Central Pinal County, Southeast Pinal County, Tohono O'odham Nation, Tucson Metro Area, Upper Santa Cruz River Valley/Altar Valley, and Western Pima County. * WHEN...From 4 PM this afternoon to 11 PM MST this evening. * IMPACTS...Hazardous driving conditions due to reduced visibility. Persons with respiratory problems should make preparations to stay indoors until the storm passes. Be ready for a sudden drop in visibility to near zero. If you encounter blowing dust or blowing sand on the roadway or see it approaching, pull off the road as far as possible and put your vehicle in park.
