Winter Storm Warning issued May 23 at 2:38AM MDT until May 23 at 6:00PM MDT by NWS Great Falls MT * WHAT...Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations up to 6 inches around pass level, with up to an additional 9 inches above pass level. * WHERE...Little Belt and Highwood Mountains. * WHEN...Until 6 PM MDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult and tire chains may be required for some vehicles. Those in the backcountry should ensure they are prepared for cold and raw conditions. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Heavy, wet snow may cause damage to trees and isolated power outages. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. Flood Watch issued May 23 at 2:06AM MDT until May 24 at 12:00PM MDT by NWS Great Falls MT Heavy rain may fall on a deep primed snowpack leading to the melt increasing. Flows in rivers may increase quickly and reach critical levels. * WHAT...Flooding caused by rain and snowmelt continues to be possible. * WHERE...A portion of central Montana, including the following area, Little Belt and Highwood Mountains. * WHEN...Through Friday morning. * IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Rain, heavy at times, is possible through this afternoon. Rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible. Snow is possible for elevations above 5000 feet. This amount of rainfall, combined with currently saturated ground conditions, could result in flooding of creeks and steams in the Monarch and Neihart areas. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings.
