Flood Warning issued June 25 at 2:57AM MDT until June 25 at 3:00PM MDT by NWS Goodland KS * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of southwest Nebraska, including the following counties, Dundy and Hitchcock. * WHEN...Until 300 PM MDT /400 PM CDT/ Thursday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 255 AM MDT /355 AM CDT/, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Benkelman, Trenton, Palisade, Stratton and Max. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.

Additional rainfall is expected today and could lead to flash flooding. * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of Colorado, including the following areas, Kit Carson and Yuma, Kansas, including the following areas, Cheyenne KS, Decatur, Gove, Graham, Greeley, Logan, Norton, Rawlins, Sheridan, Sherman, Thomas, Wallace and Wichita, and southwest Nebraska, including the following areas, Dundy, Hitchcock and Red Willow. * WHEN...Through this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in additional flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are possible. Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
