Flood Warning issued June 23 at 12:58PM MDT until June 23 at 5:15PM MDT by NWS Goodland KS * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is occurring. * WHERE...A portion of southwest Nebraska, including the following counties, Dundy and Hitchcock. * WHEN...Until 515 PM MDT /615 PM CDT/. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1255 PM MDT /155 PM CDT/, trained weather spotters reported flooding in the warned area. Water has been reported over roadways near Drive 350 and Road 718 around 6 miles north-northwest of Stratton. Between 1 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Trenton, Stratton and Max. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.

Flood Watch issued June 23 at 9:45AM CDT until June 24 at 10:00AM CDT by NWS Goodland KS * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of northwest Kansas, including the following areas, Cheyenne KS, Decatur and Rawlins and southwest Nebraska, including the following areas, Dundy and Hitchcock. * WHEN...Through Wednesday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are possible. Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Incoming heavy to torrential rainfall is forecast to lead to the potential for a few more inches of rainfall through the morning hours along with the potential for additional rainfall overnight. Due to already saturated soils and high creeks and streams flooding may continue to pose a threat to life and property. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
