Winter Storm Warning issued May 8 at 12:46PM MDT until May 9 at 6:00PM MDT by NWS Riverton WY * WHAT...Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations of 1 to 2 feet of snow along the higher elevations. Locally higher amounts are possible across the highest peaks. Snow accumulations of 4 to 6 inches are expected along South Pass. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph. * WHERE...Wind River Mountains East. * WHEN...Until 6 PM MDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible in the backcountry. Difficult travel can also be expected along South Pass. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
