Red Flag Warning issued June 9 at 7:59PM MDT until June 10 at 8:00PM MDT by NWS Rapid City SD ...RED FLAG WARNING WILL EXPIRE AT 8 PM MDT THIS EVENING FOR SOUTHERN CAMPBELL, WESTON PLAINS, AND NORTHERN CAMPBELL COUNTIES... ...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 8 PM MDT WEDNESDAY DUE TO GUSTY WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR SOUTHERN CAMPBELL, WESTON PLAINS, FALL RIVER AREA, AND PINE RIDGE AREA COUNTIES... ... .Temperatures have dropped and relative humidity has risen above critical thresholds this evening. Gusty winds across northeast Wyoming will also decrease over the next hour or two. The Red Flag Warning will be allowed to expire at 800 PM MDT. Temperatures will not be as warm on Wednesday, but very dry air and gusty winds are expected to return across portions of the northeast Wyoming plains and far southwest South Dakota. Relative humidity as low as 11 percent and westerly wind gusts up to 45 mph are expected late Wednesday morning through the early evening. The National Weather Service in Rapid City SD has issued a Red Flag Warning in effect from 11 AM to 8 PM MDT Wednesday. * AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zones 315 and 317. * TIMING...From 11 AM to 8 PM MDT Wednesday. * WINDS...West winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Relative Humidity as low as 11 percent. * IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended. A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
