Additional information: Showers are expected to start late this afternoon or early this evening and intensify as a strong low pressure system approaches the area. There is a potential for severe thunderstorms this evening with heavy rain and strong wind gusts being the primary threats. Rainfall amounts of 40 mm or greater are possible as a result of the thunderstorms and showers with this system. Strong winds and heavy rain are possible with thunderstorms along with the risk of tornadoes. ### Utility outages are possible. Heavy rain can cause flash flooding and significant reductions to visibility.
