yellow watch - severe thunderstorm - in effect Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and heavy rain. What: Rainfall amounts of 50 millimetres or more locally. Gusts of up to 90 kilometres per hour When: Today until this evening Additional information: A trough is currently causing showers and thunderstorms in these areas. Some of these thunderstorms may cause heavy rain locally. Thunderstorms will become more frequent this afternoon and could become violent and give significant amounts of rain and strong wind gusts locally. ### Damage to roofs, fences, branches or soft shelters is possible. Fast-moving and rapidly rising water can sweep vehicles away and damage infrastructure. Heavy rain can cause flash flooding and significant reductions to visibility. Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms capable of producing damaging hail, wind or rain.
