tornado warning in effect At 10:27 p.m. Central Daylight Time Tuesday, Environment Canada has issued a marine tornado warning for Manitoba Lakes Manitoba. Extra care and attention should be exercised in the following marine areas: Lake Winnipeg south basin. Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm that is possibly producing a tornado. Damaging winds, large hail and locally intense rainfall are also possible. Tornadoes are often wrapped in rain and may not be visible. Take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.

orange watch - severe thunderstorm - in effect Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain. A developing frontal system is ushering in an unstable airmass favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and torrential rainfall. Severe thunderstorms are developing late this afternoon over southern Manitoba and are tracking northward. ### Utility outages are possible. Significant damage to property, buildings and trees is possible. Fast-moving and rapidly rising water can sweep vehicles away and damage infrastructure. Heavy rain can cause flash flooding and significant reductions to visibility. Strong wind gusts can damage trees, buildings and overturn vehicles. Large hail can cause significant damage and injury. Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms capable of producing damaging hail, wind or rain.
