yellow watch - severe thunderstorm - in effect Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and heavy rain. Locations: parts of central and eastern Newfoundland. Potential rainfall rates: locally 20 to 30 mm per hour in thunderstorms. Potential wind gusts: 60 to 80 km/h in thunderstorms. Time span: this evening. Remarks: Thunderstorms are expected to be slow moving, which will increase the risk of localized heavy rainfall and flooding. Small hail is also possible. ### Driving conditions may be difficult. Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms capable of producing damaging hail, wind or rain.
