For the Menard Creek...including Rye...Major flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Moderate flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Trinity River near Moss Bluff. * WHEN...Until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 17.2 feet, Major lowland flooding begins in the vicinity of the gage. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:30 AM CDT Friday the stage was 15.5 feet. - Bankfull stage is 9.2 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 8:30 AM CDT Friday was 15.6 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to 17.5 feet Tuesday morning. Northern Chambers County in southeastern Texas... Harris County in southeastern Texas... Southeastern Liberty County in southeastern Texas... * Until 1000 AM CDT. * At 732 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Eastern Baytown, Beach City, Mont Belvieu, Anahuac, Old River-Winfree, Cove, Devers, Wallisville and Hankamer. This includes the following Low Water Crossings... Winfree Street at Smith Gully and Access Road at Turtle Bayou. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Flood Watch issued May 3 at 8:31AM CDT until May 3 at 7:00PM CDT by NWS Houston/Galveston TX * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...A portion of southeast Texas, including the following county, Chambers. * WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Model guidance suggests potential for heavier rains in the watch area early today through this evening. Any further rainfall would at best slow the recession of existing floodwaters, and at worst would aggravate this flooding. Saturated soils will result in a greater risk of flash flooding, even at rain rates that typically do not cause problems in this area. 1-2 inches of new rainfall are possible with isolated totals of up to 3-5 inches. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings.
