Red Flag Warning issued July 13 at 2:11AM CDT until July 13 at 9:00PM CDT by NWS Grand Forks ND The National Weather Service in Grand Forks has issued a Red Flag Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect from 11 AM this morning to 9 PM CDT this evening. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect. * AFFECTED AREA...In Minnesota, Roseau, Lake Of The Woods, East Marshall, North Beltrami, North Clearwater, South Beltrami, South Clearwater and Hubbard. * WINDS...Southwest 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 30 percent. * IMPACTS...Any fires that ignite will spread rapidly and become difficult to control. Outdoor burning is not recommended. A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.

Extreme Heat Warning issued July 13 at 2:13AM CDT until July 14 at 1:00AM CDT by NWS Grand Forks ND * WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values near 100 to as high as 110 expected. Actual high temperatures mid 90s to low 100s. * WHERE...Portions of central, north central, northwest, and west central Minnesota and northeast and southeast North Dakota. * WHEN...Until 1 AM CDT Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.
