Air Quality Alert issued June 16 at 10:42AM EDT by NWS Detroit/Pontiac MI The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality has issued an Air Quality Advisory for Monday June 17, for elevated levels of ozone. Pollutants are expected to be in the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups range. The alert is in effect for the following Michigan Counties, Wayne, Washtenaw, Macomb, Oakland, Livingston, St. Clair, and Monroe. It is recommended that, when possible, you avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with respiratory diseases such as asthma. People and businesses are urged to avoid activities which lead to ozone formation. These activities include, refueling vehicles or topping off when refueling, using gasoline powered lawn equipment, and using charcoal lighter fluid. Positive activities include, driving less, telecommuting, walking or biking, delaying or combining errands and using water-based paints.
