Air Quality Alert issued July 20 at 1:32PM EDT by NWS Marquette MI The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality has issued an Air Quality Alert for Monday July 20, for elevated levels of fine particulates (PM2.5) due to wildfire smoke. Pollutants are expected to be in the Unhealthy and Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups range. This is a Statewide Air Quality Alert It is recommended that, when possible, you avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in nose, throat, and eyes. You can help reduce air pollution by limiting activities, such as: -outdoor burning; -use of residential wood burning devices. Tips for households: -Keep windows closed overnight to prevent smoke from getting indoors and, if possible, run central air conditioning with MERV-13 or higher rated filters. Special Weather Statement issued July 20 at 8:34PM CDT by NWS Marquette MI At 833 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms over Wausaukee, or 25 miles northwest of Marinette, moving east at 55 mph. HAZARD...Winds in excess of 30 mph and half inch hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Menominee, Stephenson, Cedar River, Daggett, Arthur Bay, Wallace, Swanson, Ingalls, Wells State Park, Carbondale, and Birch Creek. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1100 PM CDT for south central Upper Michigan.

Special Weather Statement issued July 20 at 8:25PM CDT by NWS Green Bay WI At 825 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a line of strong thunderstorms extending from 16 miles north of Marinette to 12 miles north of McCaslin Mountain Natural Area, or extending from 16 miles north of Marinette to 19 miles east of Crandon, moving east at 45 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 30 mph and half inch size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. The strong thunderstorm will be near... Wausaukee around 830 PM CDT. Other locations impacted by this strong thunderstorm include Athelstane, Mcclintock County Park, Deer Mountain Natural Area, Silver Cliff, Bear Lake Campground, Caldron Falls Rese, Middle Inlet, Lake Noquebay, Mcallister and Goodman County Park. Monitor the weather situation closely and be alert for threatening weather conditions.
