Flood Advisory issued May 31 at 7:12AM CDT until May 31 at 10:15AM CDT by NWS Houston/Galveston TX * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of southeast Texas, including the following county, Harris. * WHEN...Until 1015 AM CDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 712 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Northwestern Pasadena, northern Missouri City, South Houston, Bellaire, Humble, West University Place, Galena Park, Jacinto City, Jersey Village, Hunters Creek Village, Bunker Hill Village, Piney Point Village, Greater Heights, Memorial Park, Afton Oaks / River Oaks Area, Neartown / Montrose, Near Northside Houston, Fourth Ward, Northside / Northline and Greenway / Upper Kirby Area. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

Special Weather Statement issued May 31 at 7:47AM CDT by NWS Houston/Galveston TX At 739 AM CDT, Mesonet sensors indicated gusty winds to 40 mph in an area of stratiform showers trailing behind a line of strong thunderstorms. Even as this stronger line of thunderstorms passes, gusty winds will linger in its wake. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Pasadena, Pearland, League City, Sugar Land, Baytown, Missouri City, Conroe, Galveston Island West End, Galveston Causeway, Texas City, Matagorda, Friendswood, La Porte, Deer Park, Rosenberg, Lake Jackson, Alvin, Angleton, Dickinson, and Stafford. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 1100 AM CDT for south central and southeastern Texas.
