Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Special Weather Statement issued July 10 at 5:24PM EDT by NWS Tampa Bay Ruskin FL At 524 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 8 miles south of Lake Kissimmee to near Avon Park to 7 miles east of Arcadia to 9 miles west of North Port. Movement was northwest at 20 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... North Port, Sarasota, Bradenton, Winter Haven, Bartow, Punta Gorda, Lake Wales, Palmetto, Sebring, Avon Park, Arcadia, Wauchula, Port Charlotte, Fish Hawk, Anna Maria, South Gate Ridge, Lake Sarasota, Southgate, Gulf Gate Estates, and The Meadows. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
